Local organizing committee: Koen Kramer, Sri Sunarti, Jasper Vermeulen, Claudius van de Vijver & Richard Visser

A symposium to get to know colleagues and their research areas from another international university, to exchange ideas, and to establish new cooperations between the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU) and Wageningen University & Research (WUR).

Themes for the four sessions during the symposium:

  • Breeding for a circular bio-economy
  • Climate resilience and resource use efficiency in breeding for sustainable agriculture
  • Bridging the gap between phenotype and genotype: phenotyping revisited
  • Impact and use of omics in breeding

Each session will start with an inspirational talk from an invited speaker within the theme of the session. Speed talks, oral presentations and poster presentations by the participants will give us insight into each other’s work and stimulate fruitful group discussions. In the group discussion we will come up with ideas for future collaborations, research questions or potential for joint publications, among others, which will be documented and sent out to the participants after the symposium.
