What is Life Sciences / Physics with Industry?

This hands-on workshop introduces young scientists to industrial research. For a whole week you will work in a team on a real company challenge. Participants are mostly PhD students or postdocs.

The previous 7 editions of Life Sciences with Industry were a great success, we are looking forward to this new, 8th edition!

Actually this workshop is a special edition as it features a Life Sciences case and a Life Sciences / Physics with Industry case.

We will be acting in line with the measures taken by the Dutch government to prevent any further spread of the Covid-19 (Corona virus).

Two challenging cases have been selected from both from: Bejo. One on Non-destructive 3D measurements for seeds, and one on Super pangenome infrastructure for seeds.

How to join:
PhD students and postdocs working in the field of physics, biotechnology, biophysics, and biochemistry can join the case on 3D measurements, whereas people with a background in genomics, genome infrastructure and seed sciences might feel more attracted to the super pangenome case. There is also a Physics with Industry workshop taking place from 16-20 November. See for more information the note at the bottom.

 How it works:

The workshop will take place at the Lorentz Center in Leiden. You will be assigned to a team working on one of the cases. The week before the workshop you will be invited for a company visit, which is an integral part of the workshop. In total there will be up to 12 participants, both senior and junior scientists. You are expected to be present for the whole duration of the workshop.

Should you have any question, do not hesitate to get in touch.
