”Finding drugs in the garden:  Harnessing plant metabolic diversity.”

Anne Osbourn is Professor at the John Innes Centre in Norwich, UK and  investigates plant natural product biosynthesis. An important advance from their lab has been the discovery that genes for specialised metabolic pathways are organised in ‘operon-like’ clusters in plant genomes, a finding that has opened up new opportunities for pathway discovery through genome mining, metabolic engineering and synthetic biology.

After her presentation, Anne will be available to meet PhD candidates and postdocs for lunch. If you would like to join, please write an email to Jan van Kan.
