The Postdoc council is organizing this day to help you orientate on the next phase of your career. There will be representatives from academia, industry, science policy and diplomacy, science journals and more. We will host three engaging panel sessions where participants can interact with the speakers and get to know different aspects of their work. Furthermore, there will be ample opportunity to network.

09.30-11.00 Theme 1: Research in Academia vs Industry

What is the next step in your career? Do you plan to continue working in academia or are you considering industry as an alternative? What are the similarities and differences of these two paths? In this session, speakers from both academia and industry will share their insights on the opportunities and challenges they face in their research driven career paths.

In this session, you will get a first-hand experience from entrepreneurs, mentors and experts on this career trajectory. Focus will be on how to navigate the first steps, what the challenges are, where you can get support and funding to carry your research ideas into an entrepreneurial venture.

Postdocs have the skills that can be applicable to a variety of non-scientific career trajectory. From valorization of scientific knowledge, to strengthening international relations and helping to solve global challenges through science diplomacy. These career opportunities are rarely in our “industry” radar. In this session, you have the opportunity to hear some of the off the beaten career paths that falls outside the mainstream industry.
