EPS CRISPR/Cas course 2023
We are very happy to announce that the 2nd edition of the EPS course “CRISPR/Cas” will take place on the 16th and 17th of November 2023.
Similar as with the first edition, on the first day the course will focus on the technology CRISPR/Cas itself. Various speakers will talk about the newest development of the technology and how they use it in their research projects. During the computer practical the participants will learn how to create their own CRISPR/Cas constructs.
The second day will focus on the ethical part of using the technology including the discussions on using GMO in general. Next to that we will focus on the communication between scientists and non-scientists on polarizing topics.
Interested? Join the course!!!
Workshop “Dealing with polarisation: Recognize the poles and learn to navigate between them”
Facilitated by Inge Wallage and Laura Witlox
Polarisation is a hot topic. People seem to be divided and debates escalate. While polarisation seems undesirable, that is not necessarily the case. But it is valuable to understand its dynamics when conflicts arise and be aware of ways to depolarise – if that’s your aim. WUR developed this workshop together with polarisation expert Bart Brandsma and gives you insights in how polarisation works, with a focus on mechanisms and roles in a polarised debate. There is a possibility to subsequently follow a 3-hour in-depth workshop that helps you to deal with a concrete polarised debate which makes you reflect on your own role.
