EPS Bioinformatic Introduction Course 2021

Target group: ÈPS PhD students and postdocs

If there are still places available mid-June the registration opens up to PhD students and postdocs registered with Wageningen Graduate Schools

 Group size: max. 40


EPS is organizing an online Bioinformatic Introduction Course for all EPS PhD students and postdocs. It is a 5 day course, where the first 4 days are filled with lectures and practical’s covering the basis of bioinformatics. On the morning of the 5th day invited speakers will give presentations about emerging fields. The afternoon will be filled with consultancy, where all trainers will be available to discuss with the participants one at one/in small groups research related questions.


 Preliminary programme :

Day 1     Introduction, Databases, Sequence similarity and search, Plant resources, Genome browsers

Day 2    Genome sequencing, Annotation, Resequencing, Variant calling, GWAS, QTL

Day 3    Comparative genomics, Synteny, Phylogeny

Day 4    Transcriptomics , Omics data analysis, Protein function/interaction

Day 5    Presentations of “Special topics” by invited speakers and Consultancy afternoon


Reduced fee 100 €:

  • EPS PhD candidates with an approved Training and Supervision Plan (TSP)
  • EPS Postdocs that are registered at one of the graduate schools in Wageningen
  • from mid-June PhD candidates and Postdocs that are registered at one of the graduate schools in Wageningen

University fee € 200:

  • PhD candidates and postdocs, staff member

All others € 400

Fee includes study and training material and snack box


Cancellation condition:

You may cancel free of charge up to four weeks before the start of the course. After this date you will be charged the University fee. Unless:

You can find someone to replace you in the course and supply the course coordinator with the name and contact information of your replacement.

In this case you will only be charged a € 50,- cancellation fee.

You (EPS PhDs and postdocs) have a valid reason to cancel (illness or death in the family 1st or 2nd degree).

In this case you will be charged the reduced fee and your supervisor/PI must send a mail indicating the reason for cancellation.
