Researcher of Biosystematics (WUR) publish in Nature Genetics

Researcher of Keygene and the Biosystematics group at the Wageningen University & Research (WUR) together with the Japanese breeding company Takii and New Zealand’s Plant & Food Research and Lincoln University discovered a gene that makes it possible to produce seeds from crops that are genetically identical to the mother plant and that do not need pollination.

The results were published in January in Nature Genetics and are expected to lead to major innovations in plant breeding over the coming years. More information can be find here and in this video. Fotos: (1) Kitty Vijverberg, (2) Eric Schranz and (3) Drawing by Cloe Villard.
