“Evolution of pathogen resistance in wild tomato species”

Remco Stam is a research group leader at the Technical University of Munich. His work focuses on understanding which genes and molecular processes are involved in the evolutionary arms race between plants and pathogens in a natural context and how. For this he uses the wild tomato species Solanum chilense and its natural pathogens. S. chilense maintains large diversity in quantitative and qualitative resistance properties against several main tomato pathogens throughout its species range and has a well-studied evolutionary background. He will present an overview of the ongoing work on in his group.
