!Postponed! Rooting 2020 – 9th International Symposium on Root Development

The Rooting 2020 local organising committee has made the decision to postpone the conference from 2020 to 2021.  At this time they cannot provide an exact date, but they are hoping to re-schedule for a similar time in June 2021.

Date: 22-26 June 2020
Venue: University of Nottingham, UK
Early bird registration deadline: 31 March 2020

The Rooting 2020 conference aims to bring together scientists in plant developmental biology, agriculture, horticulture, forestry, ecophysiology and biotechnology, with a shared interest in root development. It focuses on the genetic regulation and development of adventitious, primary and lateral roots and their interactions with the environment. Based on the tradition of the earlier symposia held in the US, Israel, The Netherlands, Spain, Canada, Germany and Sweden, the 9th International Symposium on Root Development aims to exchange recent knowledge and new ideas on fundamental and applied aspects of root biology in 7 themed sessions. Our 2020 Symposium features a new ‘hands on’ style session on Root Phenomics where delegates can experience new technologies for characterising root growth and development in controlled and field environments.

Session themes and invited speakers include

1.Hormones and root system architecture – Karin Ljung (SLU Umea)
2.Root morphogenesis – Bert De Rybel (VIB Ghent) – EMBO Young Investigator Lecture
3.Nutrient and water uptake – Anna Amtmann (Glasgow)
4.Responses to abiotic constraints – Jonathan Lynch (Penn State, USA)
5.Root biotic interactions – Caroline Gutjahr (TUM, Munich)
6.Grafting / re-generation – Charles Melnyk (SLU Uppsala)
7.Root Phenomics – ‘Hands on’ demonstrations

We are delighted to announce that several student bursaries sponsored by the IPPN Root Group are available to participate in the Rooting2020 meeting. Please note that there is a different procedure for registration if you want to be considered for a bursary. The deadline for submitting an abstract with the intention of claiming a bursary is 6 March 2020.
