EPS PhD candidates visit Averis

On Friday June 7 thirty PhD candidates headed to Valthermond, a small village in the north of the Netherlands. There they visited the potato-breeding company Averis, which is a daughter of the company AVEBE. After a talk about the structure and goals of the company, how to breed a new potato cultivar and what it is like to work at a breeding company, the participants got a tour through the potato fields and the laboratory. At the end of the program the participants could chat with Averis’ employees, while enjoying drinks.

Ties Ausma (RUG) and Ivo Gariboldi (LU), who organized the visit on behalf of the EPS PhD council, would like to thank Averis for their great enthusiasm and efforts in hosting us!
