Graduate Schools & Research Centres

Wageningen University has set up several Graduate Schools. Graduate Schools are a fairly recent development in the Netherlands. By combining research from several universities, departments, and institutes, they provide young scientists (graduates with an Ir- or MSc-degree) with training at an internationally-recognized level. These Schools also offer an ideal opportunity to carry out contract research commissioned by both domestic and international clients.

• Wageningen Institute of Animal Sciences (WIAS)
• Mansholt Institute (MGS)
• Wageningen Institute of Environment and Climate Research (WIMEK)

At present, five Wageningen-based graduate schools have been accredited by the Royal Dutch Academy of Sciences (KNAW): EPS (1993 & 1998), VLAG (1994 & 1999), PE&RC (1995 & 2000), MGS (1999) and WIAS (1995 & 2000). Further, WIMEK has received accredition as partner in the graduate school Socio-economic and Natural Sciences of the Environment , SENSE (1997).

Several WU departments or researchers also participate in Graduate Schools based at other Dutch universities.
