Theme to be discussed: 'Viruses transmitted by mosquitos'
Pathogenic, mosquito-borne viruses like West Nile, chikungunya and dengue pose a worldwide threat to human health. Detailed understanding how these viruses enter host cells, productively replicate in their mosquito vectors and infect humans is important to develop novel intervention strategies to control virus transmission and disease.
Chair: Jan van Lent (Laboratory of Virology, Wageningen UR)
Jolanda Smit (Department of Medical Microbiology, Molecular Virology Section, UMC Groningen), 'Early events in dengue virus cell entry'
