Education regulations
The PhD educational programme of the Graduate School Experimental Plant Sciences (EPS) aims to increase the quality of the PhD student's work within the graduate school. The programme is not limited to trainee research assistants (AIO's/OIO's) but concerns all PhD students within the graduate school.

Education program
The main purpose of the EPS PhD Training Programme is to train PhD students on an individual basis to become independent researchers in the Experimental Plant Sciences.Within the Course Programme of the Graduate School EPS 'seminars' and 'specialized' courses are of major interest. Experts in relevant research areas are invited for the seminar series. Internationally recognized scientists take part in the specialized courses as teachers. The participants in these high quality courses include PhD students from EPS and other Dutch and foreign graduate schools, as well as a limited number of postdocs.

PhD Students' Council website
This website is specially designed for all PhD students of EPS. Here you will find information about who we are, what we do and how we try to improve the chances and possibilities for PhD students. With this site we aim to reach all EPS PhD students, explain what we can mean for you and how we rely on your feedback. We are able to achieve more when you give us your opinion, suggestions or even your problems!

Training and Supervision
The Graduate School EPS requires an Individual Training and Supervision PLAN (iTSP) - in Dutch Opleidings- en Begeleidingsplan (OBP) - for every PhD student* (all categories). In order to obtain funds for a teaching programme and an EPS Certificate the iTSP must be approved by the Educational Committee.

PhD Monitoring
The Monitoring System for Ph.D. students follows the recommendation of the Wageningen Ph.D. students council (WAIOO) and the International Advisory Board (IAB) of EPS.

Certificate
Simultaneously when the reading version of the thesis is presented to the secretary of the Doctoral Board (~13 weeks before the date of the thesis defense), the PhD candidate submits the request for an Education Certificate to the Educational Committee of the Graduate School through the secretariat of EPS.

EPSO Membership
EPS is one of the founding members of EPSO, the European Plant Science Organisation (www.epsoweb.org). Since June 2007 EPSO offers the personal membership which is open to all nationalities, professions, career stages and age groups worldwide and it is free for all people working at the EPSO institutional members. All EPS members can register as a personal member for free.
