Workshop on Plant-Insect Interactions |
5th workshop on Plant-Insect Interactions, Thursday 11 November 2010, Wageningen University, Wageningen, The Netherlands
5th workshop Plant-Insect Interactions (aimed for young scientists)
Date: Thursday 11 November 2010
Venue: Wageningen University
As in previous years, this workshop will focus on ecological and molecular aspects of plant-insect interactions. It aims to inform about research progress, stimulate interdisciplinary discussion, enhance communication, and to promote future collaborations. The workshop is meant for young scientists (PhD-candidates and postdocs).
This year, we want to add an extra level of discussion on relevant issues that young researchers in the field of Plant-Insect Interactions face. For example, is fundamental research still interesting, because funding organisations more and more ask for the societal relevance of science? What is the value of field research relative to laboratory research? Are there gaps in knowledge and interest between ecologists and molecular biologists that need to be bridged?
We are honoured to announce that Professor Ian Baldwin from the Max Planck Institute in Germany will give the keynote lecture. He will present his views about one of the important issues young scientists face.
The fee will be € 30,- (including lunch and dinner)
Further information about registration and abstract submission will follow. For now, please write this date down in your agenda.
We hope to see you all on the 11th of November
